    EraFlow MecaFlow module icon

    MecaFlow

Reservoir geomechanics using the Material Point Method (MPM) to model interaction between hydraulic and natural fractures, predict differential stress and strain validated with microseismicity. Includes elastic and poroelastic modeling for modeling well interferences.

MecaFlow is an advanced geomechanical technology based on the Material Point Method (MPM) and is able to simulate 1) the initial heterogeneous reservoir stress magnitude and orientation resulting from the interaction between regional stress and natural fractures, and 2) the interaction between hydraulic fractures and natural fractures during stimulation. This unique technology opens new doors to derive a better understanding of the frac stage performance. This provides the ability to create completion optimization workflows. Unlike other geomechanical tools, MecaFlow’s simulated strain predicts the main features of the microseismicity--confirming the validity of the input data (continuous natural fracture models) and the continuum mechanics approach used to simulate the interaction between the hydraulic and natural fractures responsible for the shearing observed in the microseismicity

    Key features

    • ✓Provides the horizontal differential stress that could be used to identify areas where the fracturing treatment needs to be changed or stages to be refractured
    • ✓Provides local stress rotations and the direction of propagation of a hydraulic fracture at each stage

    FracFlow - EraFlow module
    EraFlow FracFlow module icon

    FracFlow

New generation fast 3D grid based frac simulator with proppant transport constrained by validated geomechanical half lengths. Resulting fracture geometry used as input in FlowFlow and commercial reservoir simulators.

FracFlow™ is a new generation lightning fast 3D grid based frac simulator with proppant transport. The unique workflow uses the geomechanical half-lengths derived in FracFlow™ as a constraint that captures the lateral stress gradients that control the asymmetric hydraulic fracture propagation. Experimental design and sensitivity analysis provide tornado plots which explain why certain frac stages do or do not perform well, allowing the frac engineer to identify what frac parameter(s) they need to change to adapt the frac stage treatment to the stress gradients reducing hydraulic fracture growth. The rock properties used as input in a frac simulator (Young’s Modulus, Closure stress, etc.) are distributed in 3D using RockFlow capabilities and extracted with an automatically custom built 3D well grid around the considered well.

    Key features

    • ✓Unique asymmetric 3D grid based frac design constrained by geomechanical half lengths that captures stress gradients causing the asymmetric behavior
    • ✓Experimental design for sensitivity analysis allows the identification of frac parameters causing shorter or longer wings.
    • ✓Automatic match of the pressure in the frac analysis module

    FlowFlow - EraFlow module
    EraFlow FlowFlow module icon

    FlowFlow

Constrained production forecast using asymmetric tri-linear model. Constrained pressure depletion estimated with Fast Marching Method (FMM). Automatic history matching of rates or pressure. PVT and BHP estimation tools.

FlowFlow™ uses an asymmetric tri-linear model that provides a mechanistic model to represent the production from the unconventional wells. The new tri-linear model is as fast as a simplistic Decline Curve Analysis, yet it provides a reliable and realistic estimate of the EUR which honors the complex asymmetric nature of the SRV in unconventional wells. Initial reservoir parameters are estimated with Unconventional Rate Analysis tools. Automatic history matching of pressure or rate provides the EUR and key average rock properties. Pressure depletion can be simulated with a Fast Marching Method that uses as input the previously derived fracture geometry and the 3D models of the effective medium. A PVT analysis tool is included to handle all possible phases and a BHP analysis tool allows the estimation of Bottom Hole Pressure when Tubing Wellhead Pressure is available.

    Key features

    • ✓Decline curve analysis (many methods some of them not available in commercial software)
    • ✓Unique asymmetric tri-linear model able to predict EUR by matching rate or pressure
    • ✓Bottom hole pressure estimation module using tubing wellhead pressure

    • ✓Sensitivity analysis allows the identification of key frac parameters affecting EUR
    • ✓Pressure depletion using Fast Marching Method simulation

    About GEOSIGMOID GROUP

GEOSIGMOID GROUP is the result of the organic growth and consolidation of several companies and corporate identities during 15 years. The journey began with GO GEOENGINEERING in 2011, the first entrepreneurial venture, which focused on software development and petroleum field studies, particularly in exploration and development. This experience was followed by the creation of GEOSIGMOID LLC in the United States and 3GEO ARIN, ultimately leading to the establishment of GEOSIGMOID GROUP.

The group's earlier software platforms were merged into the single EraFlow™ platform. Together with GeoScan™, the cloud data-management platform that feeds it, EraFlow forms the group's proprietary technology chain.
